In a time of war, we become acutely aware of the sacrifices of individuals and families ravaged by its consequences. These consequences in a media saturated culture are now routinely played out in front of television audiences on local and national news broadcasts. Terrence McNally’s Bringing It All Back Home delves into the culture of a family afflicted by everything that war brings; isolation, questions of sexual identity, family values, fear, the cult of celebrity, exploitation and a growing sense of devolution of a society.

We at SOLID HANG believe the relevance of Bringing It All Back Home could not be greater due to the current political and social climate affecting many in America today. As such we would like to present a production of Bringing It All Back Home. Our impetus is two fold:
1. The Army is disproportionately composed of recruits from lower socio-economic groups. Thus SOLID HANG is interested in engaging the audience in a dialogue about decisions their sons and daughters are or might make in the future.
2. The play’s overriding themes transcend the socio-economic divide that we witness daily. We aim to engage those of lower socio-economic status by providing for reduced ticket prices and actively seek their attendance by creating awareness in their neighborhoods of the existence of such theatre.

We at SOLID HANG are acutely aware of the power of art in creating and engaging a dialogue on subjects that might otherwise be viewed as taboo. We also believe this dialogue is fundamental in creating a vital democratic state and nation. Bringing It All Back Home is one production that can initiate that dialogue.
